What DNS servers are people using with Telstra Clear cable currently?  I have 203.97.78.43/44 and have lately found them to be really unreliable and very very slow quite often.  Tonight particularly has been very unstable.

Reluctant to use DNS off-network given the problems that has caused people in the past,

I'd wager that you're having problems but just aren't aware of them ;)

Sites like www.escapistmagazine.com often won't load when using the Paradise servers, and the Clear ones tend to be more reliable.

I've been having an ongoing battle with DNS.

.4 .12 --> 203.97.78.43  ...

Couldn't even resolve debian.org on .12, that's how nuts it got.

Trying to get sense out of TC HD was like blood from a stone!  They gave up responding... I had to set up hosts enteries for some sites.

Don't know what's going on at TC at present but HFC is getting worse.

Cheers Don

Ive always used there primary DNS as my primary and opendns as secondary. but Im always having problems with some websites ust not loading, I normally rdp into work if I need to get to a site thats not loading asap.   Has anyone else noticed some websites load much faster in Internet Excreter than on Firefox on Telstraclear?

If your lookup hits the secondary at opendns, then lots of sites that use content delivery networks will fail due largely to the [would like to insert expletive here!] transparent proxy that TelstraClear uses and the fact that it does it's own lookup which will get a different address.

Probably best to stick with both primary and secondary DNS being the TelstraClear ones, as annoyingly non-redundant as that is.
