Hi, I have just signed up to Vodafone's 30GB Broadband/Phone package and will be getting the Vodafone Complete Wireless ADSL2+ Modem.  Just wondering if they are any good? Whats your experience with one?

They are really cool routers actually...

They have 2 USB ports that you can connect a printer to for example and have it shared across all computers connected to that router. It is also good for people who have a USB external hard drive... you can connect it to the router and any computer on the network can access files on the external hard drive.

It also has a third USB port dedicated for a 3g USB stick, so if for some strange reason your internet goes down, you can simply connect a 3g usb stick into the router and have backup internet access via the 3g mobile network.

Also has 2 VoIP phone jacks built in.

And the whole thing only costs $149 outright or free on a 24 month contract.

@simon14 Thanks for the reply, sounds like a nice piece of kit. I am getting the modem free as I opted for the 24month contract to get it free. Should be getting the modem later next week.

Cool, it should come all preconfigured for you so you'll just need to plug it in and go!

It's also got a internal antenna, nice tidy looking unit!

Does anyone know where I can buy one of these modems or are they exclusive to Vodafone?   Would quite like it for plugging my external hard drive into...

You can't buy it from a VF store, you have to be a Vodafone BB customer and it gets couriered out.

You could look for a second hand one on trademe?

Are the VOIP ports enabled on this device? Anyone using SIP with it?

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Not sure if the VOIP ports are enabled by default - I'm getting one of these to play with in a few days so I'll let you know.
