I am interested in buying an Iphone on contract, But this special offer runs out on 1st September.

Can anyone from Vodafone confirm if there will be a new offer after this period. I would hate to buy a new Iphone only to have less than a month of this special deal.

Not really related but I signed up to this plan last month and didn't get the 3 gb last month or this month. Not very happy.... Some screw up the guy from Vodafone Egypt told me. He gave me 200 MB compensation and said I have to go to a store to sort it out.

It will be interesting to see what they come up with now that 2 degrees have announced 3g pricing.

There's been little chatter about what might replace the 3gb deal, but there has been the comment from PB that it was intended more to gauge what sort of usage pattern the "average" smartphone user has.

I think it could potentially morph into something like a 1GB permanent deal after it gets extended for another three months. :D

Hmmm should I wait, or get one now, and hope there is a new offer for existing customers after 1st September

You won't know until the day it's announced.

The question is...do you WANT to wait?

Are you after an iPhone 4? its likely that they won't be in stock till the end of the month anyway. Sign the contract if you're happy with what you're signing. To rely on the kindness of some big company would be foolish IMO.

I'd say it comes dowmn to which is more important to you...the iPhone or the data freebie.

Personally, I'd say that after over a year of 3gb freebies, they would be hard pressed to just remove it alltogether...as stated earlier, I think it'll morph into a more permanent 1gb or similar.

Related to the 3GB offer: I went to the Vodafone website and confirmed that I was eligible because I have a Smart 40 plan that I signed-up to this month. When I check my account on the website it says that my limit is 250 megabytes. Is this because they can't be bothered updating the plan's limit on the website because it is a temporary deal, or am I supposed to contact someone to enable the deal? I thought I was automatically eligible as per the terms and conditions on the Vodafone website.
Here I am trying to be frugal with my traffic when I may not need to be (for the rest of this month)!

I have been trying to get the 3 GB added to my account since I signed up in July. As yet it has been a dismal failure. I have rung 4 times and been into the shop once.

The latest this month from the CSR was to just use the internet and they will credit back any excess charges. The CSR's have been unable to tell me how much data I have used. They have escalated the issue apparently.

I figure there is some sort of problem with the addon as my 250 MB has run out but I have not been charged anything.

Cheers, Matt.

Thanks for the reply, but that sucks. Given what you said, it hardly makes it worth my while to call them and sort it out....I might as well go over the limit and see what happens (after I print out the terms and conditions of the offer in case I have to call them next month when the bill comesSmile).

I rang Vodafone and after the CSR said that they pro-rated the data across the month I signed-up in (i.e. if I am elgible for 250MB a month, and I joined half-way during the month, then I am eligble for 125MB for the remainder of the month) I said I wanted to talk to somebody else because my query was about why I didn't get the 3GB data plan offer. He also said that I wasn't eleigible for the special offer until next month until I pointed out that, according to the website, the offer ended 1 September. He put me on hold and eventually said that I needed to go back to the Vodafone shop I bought my phone from and they would sort it out.

Before he put me on hold I quoted from the terms and conditions of the offer on the website and he was totally bamboozled until he went to look at the website.

I only noticed this morning (because previously I was only interested in looking at the data plan) that I have 1000 PXTS on my account, but I don't have the 3 GB data.

Sheesh, I am pretty hacked-off that I have to travel to the shop to sort this out. I am hacked-off that I didn't get what I was eligible for in the first place. Can I charge Vodafone for the travel to the shop?

Went to Vodafone store and they said this is a common problem......the 'back end' of their systems shows my 3GB eligibility but the 'front end' can't show it. They rang Vodafone when I was there and confirmed my quota was 3 GB. OK, i'll give them the benefit of the doubt but I'll be upset if I have to ring up and get extra data charges removed from my account month after month.
Given that other posters say their correct data eligibility shows up almost immediately can anyone who knows Vodafone systems comment on the veracity of the story I was given at the store?

Hi all,

For those with the lack of a balance on the 3 GB data addon. I spent 15 minutes in a store today and someone in I.T. finally confirmed it is an issue. It is being worked on by provisioning I think (don't quote me on that) and billing know about it. It does not have a timeframe for resolution yet.

Cheers, Matt.
