Your stmp server should be smtp.clear.net.nz - no @!

Audiophiles are such twits! They buy such pointless stuff: Gold plated cables, $2000 power cords. Idiots.

OOOHHHH HYPERFIBRE!

I seem to remember that for sending email you do not set a password (the server will not accept one). Maybe it is sending the password for sending email as well? But then that was from our cable connection may be different if it is coming from outside of the Telstra network.

Might be worth asking Clear if they'll accept SMTP connections from outside their network for relaying to domains other than their own.

If they do, they may need some form of authentication - often that's POP before SMTP, but they may require something else .

Who do you have your iPad internet connection with? Use their smtp server not clears. So for instance if you are with Vodafone try using smtp.vodafone.net.nz

Unless you're using a TelstraClear APN I think you'll need to have Mail+ added to your account as this enables remote mail capabilities.
