n4: Well no not really, but its your company image, so I don't mind if you don't.

I would think that internet usage would the the furtherest thing from peoples minds. They don't even have sewage connections.

I wonder how these ISPs in Christchurch are operating that have all their servers in the city.

My sister-in-law is ~3km from the city centre.  They are one of the lucky(er) ones that did not loose power or water, and their road is not flooded.  Their land line went live in the afternoon.  With cell towers on battery power it is advisable to use e-mail rather than mobile phone, and it is also a great way of finding out what is happening without driving/walking through a disaster area.  Especially since the TV just repeats the same footage over and over.  So yes, internet access in Christchurch is very important.

Thanks Maverick for keeping us informed.

10 CDMA Cellsites unavailable.

8 WCDMA Cellsites unavailable.

* From mid afternoon onwards all Cabinets should be running again on backup power (where power is the only problem)

Please note this is only indicative and is based on what the field staff have been able to survey, timelines and restoration activity may change throughout the day.

All possible resources are being engaged and restorative action is being prioritised, we are in constant contact with emergency services and infrastructure providers.

So is the Canterbury University Cell Site gone for good or is it going to be relocated?

Why does the field force have to stop for curfew? The curfew is in place to stop crime but the police and civil defence are allowed out so the field force should be too.
