I am interested in keeping my home number so would like to port it to a VOIP provider.

How could I go about doing that and moving to naked DSL without having problems with my DSL being disconnected in the process?

Are you a Red Network or Wholesale customer?

It is possible. If you are Red Network it can be done over the phone.

If you are a Wholesale customer you will need to insure that you are eligible for Naked and that you currently have UBA services. Check this with the helpdesk,

Thanks. I have recently been moved from the Red Network to the wholesale network as Chorus where kind enough to put a cabinet about 100m from my home.

I will try calling customer services but usually find for out of the ordinary requests the staff can get a little lost. This was certainly the case when I called them about the impact of cabinetisation and timing/process to move to the wholesale network.

When I inquired about going naked and using italk for voip and porting my number
Italk I was told BB would be disconnected as  their systems do not allow for leaving BB connected if porting existing ph number

VF said there was a good chance it would be disconnected but I could apply for it to be reconnected
VF  provisioning guy said they could request a none disconnection on BB. but because your potentially dealing with 3 different telco's
telecom, VF, Italk plus the contrators doing the work. chances are BB would be disconnected.
