Been having the easy life and been living back at home since 2004.
In 2005 I connected to Orcon 256k for broadband internet through the phone line that was being managed by TelstraClear.

Fast forward 5 years and I have had enough of Orcon and the slow performance since upgrading my connection to FS/FS. I gave them my 30 days notice on the 1st of September and went away on holiday to Singapore. I came back on the 22nd, joined up with Snap and waited.

I gave Snap a call today and was told that my request to transfer over to Snap was rejected twice by TC.
I did try to call TC when I got home from work and had the account details with me, but it was after 7pm and they were closed.

Just wondering though - why would TC get involved with the switch over and why would they reject it? My only thought would be that the phone account is in the parents name and the broadband is in my name -- but this was the same as 5 years ago ..

Any suggestions?
*Fires email away to TC*

If you are on an unbundled TCL service you can't have a different provider for broadband than phone.

If your phone line is with TCL, you can only have broadband with TCL. It changed around 2007/2008 that you had to have all your services with one company only (eg, Telecom landline, only Xtra for internet, etc). Possibly because you were with Orcon for so long it didn't affect you until now?

That is a Telstra policy, with Xnet or Maxnet you can have standard non naked adsl and have your phone line with someone else for example.

we have our home phone with Telecom and our broadband with slingshot?

its only because telecom are the cheapest we can get. $39 is pretty good.

Ensure your account details match and are entirely correct.

And then ask SNAP for more information or explanation on the particular rejection code they're receiving, sounds like you're being fobbed off slightly? (assumption based off the info you've posted)

If you've been receiving HSI through Orcon for the last few years on a TelstraClear phone line (presumably WSA [wholesale TCNZ]) I would be confused why that is suddenly impossible through SNAP. LLU phone line sure, but WSA? TelstraClear does have a business rule stating that you must have phone line with them if you want to have Broadband WITH telstraclear, but I don't recall anything specifically preventing you from having broadband with another provider. (and I think people are getting confused here by that)

When Telstra installed their own LLU gear in exchanges they stopped reselling Telecom wholesale land lines in those exchanges, basically you can't have Telstra land line on LLU equipment and broadband with another ISP over Telecom wholesale equipment.

Whether it's a technical limitation or Telstra policy I'm not sure.

Maybe if you've had it that way previously, they leave it as it is? I dunno, my situation was a few years ago now, so I could (easily) be wrong.
