Is anyone else experience problems when connecting their T-Box to a receiver via HDMI with audio dropping out and not coming back?

I have a Denon AVR-890 and quite frequently the audio just drops out and I have to select the input again on the receiver for the audio to come back.

This happens after a stutter in signal, changing of channels, rewinding/fastforwarding.

Also, I have read on the forums that you can get 5.1 audio over the toslink output, is 5.1 also possible over HDMI as all I get is stereo at the moment.

Cheers,
Daniel.

Could be something to do with the HDMI handshaking between the Denon and the T-box.

I have had it confirmed that Audio will be output over HDMI as per the standard.

Anyone getting 5.1 audio out of the T-box over HDMI?

If yes, did you have to do anything special to get it to work?

A lot of the US shows on TV3 (CSI is one example) have 5.1 audio, my Freeview recordings of the same content playback in 5.1, why not from T-Box?

Hey markdr

I ended up buying an optical cable and connecting that to my Denon amp and this seemed to not only fix my audio issues over HDMI but it also gave me 5.1 audio for channels like TV3, Sky Sports 1,2.

Cheers,

Dan.

5.1 over HDMI isn't all that common as the chipsets used in many STB's don't support it. I have no idea if the T-Box does or doesn't, but if it doesn't this could be the reason.

Actually it should be standard on a HD STB, Sky do it so it should not be difficult.

I have an AVR-890 with MySky HDI connected via HDMI and have exactly the same problem with audio dropping out - perhaps it is the receiver and not the STB....
