I got my T-Box installed last Thursday and everything is good.  No issues such as some of the early installs reported.  So I don't have a problem to discuss rather I want to raise some thoughts re ways TC could improve the T-Box.

It's early days but so far there are 4 things that I think are probably do-able that would add real value to the subscribers.

1.  Add a column (or something similar) to the planner showing thee date the recording was made.   If we record a series then they all have the same name and I can see it will be a pain to easily select the one you want once there are a few.
2. The series function needs to be a bit smarter to avoid duplicate recordings of programmes that are repeated at different times in the same week (I expect this will be a data issue where the broadcasters are not giving them sufficient info in the EPG data to pick this out).
3. More than one week of EPG (again likely to be a supplier issue)
4. The ability to sort the display order of your Favourite channels.

Otherwise, interface and features work a treat.   What would others like to see?

Those suggestions sound sensible. Just got mine installed this afternoon and it has a couple of issues that the installer was not able to resolve with HQ. One being that I don't have an EPG for today so I can't even try recording. I can only schedule recordings from tomorrow.

My thoughts:

- Ability to manually set a recording including repeats (weekdays, weekends, daily). Unless I've missed something, recordings must be set from the EPG. That being the case, I'm not sure if it's possible to set a recording to occur more than 7 days in the future.

- Ability to edit the time of a recording. If I want it to start 2 minutes earlier and end 20 minutes later than the EPG times, then I should be able to. Also to be able to make it a repeating recording.

- Padding needs to have before and after settings. Programmes rarely start early, but they often run well beyond the scheduled time. The range of times "after" also needs to go beyond 15 minutes. Say in 5 minute intervals to 30 minutes.

Of course the above things (aside from the last one) are possible with a regular decoder box.

All of your suggestions make perfect sense!  I have been having issues with this whole padding/buffer problem.

I will of course be sending my thoughts to TC - once I've used it for about a week. Hopefully many others will too. Fingers crossed they will listen, but not expecting any fast miracles as they didn't develop the software themselves. Now watching my first recording and 15 minutes padding both ends will quickly drive me nuts. Even 10 is going to be annoying at the start, but 5 doesn't seem sufficient at the end. Wish they'd chosen me as a tester.

I'm happy to agree to the padding changes.  Have set ours to just 2 or 3 minutes but greater flexibility would be fine.   Not so sure I see much value in manually programming recording - nothing against it but once you have an EPG I just can't imagine using it.

I understand that the reason the EPG is only seven days ahead is because SKY will not provide 14 days (I may be wrong on that).

Would also be nice if in the Planner there was a status that displayed (rather than just either Viewed or Recorded) of 'Part Viewed' (or something like that) to indicate partial viewing - i.e. that you haven't finished viewing it.  Better still a progress bar that shows how far through it you have viewed.
