Once again, I experienced txt delivery problems. Instead of receiving each message as it arrived, all nessages within the last 26 hours approximately were held off and delivered at the same time. And no, my phone has been on all this time.

Shame on you Vodafone. FYI, NZ Post provide Next Day Delivery of physical mail to and from the same city.

At least vodafone dont deliver your texts to the wrong street with great regularity.
I havent seen any delayed txts on my slingshot phone from twitter, but I know that something I sent to someone last friday from my cdma phone never made it.

Why do people think email and sms/txt are 100% reliable real time delivery mechanisms?  They aren't!

Pardon me but where have I ever said I expected 100% reliable real time delivery?

Since when has delays of up to 26 hours in electronic delivery become acceptable? Since when has patronising someone who expects reasonable services become acceptable?

When the other large telco has an ad showing pacman being given real time instructions via text, an immediate delivery of sms is a reasonable expectation.

email is pretty reliable when you run your own mail servers.  TXT is a fraction of the size of email, not particularly complicated and carried over mostly private networks.  It shouldnt be as unreliable as it seems to be these days...

The delays on them is why I want to have no sms sound at all, not even vibrate since it seems that when they do get delayed, they will come thru while sleeping.

To be honest, other than when there was that stuffup with the twitter texts, its been good for me recently. But most people know that I cant be stuffed typing more than one word answers so will call me.

Ironically, I need SMS to wake me when certain emails come through. I just posted this http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?ForumId=48&TopicId=70701. If anyone can help, I would be grateful.
