I've presently got two VoIP accounts, one from WorldXChange and the other from my ISP ThePacific.net (wireless service based in Richmond, Nelson).  ThePacific.net wholesale their VoIP numbers and service through TelstraClear.

I don't need two VoIP accounts.  I'd like to keep the ThePacific.net account as my sole phone account, but I need to keep the WorldXChange phone number.

I've checked on the WxC forum and have been advised that WxC have no problem relinquishing the phone number.

The roadblock appears to be at TelstraClear, who I understand have told the ThePacific.net people that the WxC VoIP phone number cannot be ported over.

I don't see why it should make any difference what kind of "line" a phone number is currently mapped to.  Presumably if I had a landline with WxC I'd have the same phone number.

Is there someone from TelstraClear here who can address this issue?  Or has anyone else here had experience porting a phone number from another carrier (other than Telecom) to TelstraClear?  TIA.
