Just received a rather sizeable bill for October for my mobile broadband use (on my E71).

I have the Broadband 100MB add on, my understanding was when you hit 100MB, it added another 100MB (I think I've got this confused with Telecom's prepay data).

I spoke to a CSR but am more confused than ever.

How does it work, and should I change the add-on to something more substantial?

once you hit the 100mb, you then go to the casual rate, which is $1 per day (up to 10MB)

Nope. From http://www.vodafone.co.nz/mobile-data/mobile-web.jsp

"If you exceed your data Add-On bundle you will pay $0.20 per MB if you're on Supa Prepay, or $0.11 per MB if you're On Account."

For Broadband Lite OA: it's $10 for 100MB then 11c/MB overage
For Broadband Lite PP: it's $10 for 100MB then 20c/MB overage unless top up pack is applied

You have to manually apply data packs on top, and they can only be purchased on PP.

My last bill shows some weird charging, but the total looks about right.

So how does this work??

These are from the 2 phones on @nate's account

Invoice

My calculations for 257MB at 0.08/mb is $20.56 not $95.30

The top one looks about right, becayse the 162mb is really only 62mb as the first 100mb is paid for.

Something is really wrong with that second phone tho, even if you added all of those numbers up and multiplied by the $0.08/MB they are quoting, it's not even close to $95

To clarify for anyone not in the know, Richard is the other director here at 3Bit.

Spoke to a very helpful Vodafone CSR, since it was an honest misunderstanding on my part, Vodafone have credited our business account, plus I've upgraded to the 200Mb plan, which doubles in data for an extra $10.

Thanks Vodafone!

One thing that puzzles me - if you are on pre-pay and go over your limit how do they charge you the daily rate?

Does this assume that you still have money in your account as would be the case if you have mixed voice and data from the same account?
i.e. using a smart phone to do voice and data.

If you are using a 'dongle' (as I am) surely you would pay, say, $30 into your account, convert it to a data add on then have no money in your account for voice calls or for paying an ad-hoc daily rate.

Cheers

LGC
