Hi,

Got the email from Xnet today re "changes from Telecom to the fibre network". Later in the email it states "after the upgrade..."

So is there an upgrade to the network coming soon - i.e. will we be getting speed improvements? or is it just maintenance?

The email is not that clear to be honest.

Neil

States only changes, not upgrade. Only affects people with fibre-to-the-home. If only Telecom would enable the fibre already running past my home...

Telecom are doing major upgrades to their Fibre network to bring it to a much latter release, we have sent the emails to all Fibre customers to give you a "heads up" that it is coming and that it will cause a full outage for upto an hour in the small hours, we will send another email when we have the committed dates,

The email is just an advisory so if something unforseen happened and the upgrade did not go well (very unlikely, ACL have been testing hard out for quite some time)at least you will have known that network upgrades where being carried out,

It will have no effect of present speed or offerings, it is purely network upgrade changes being carried out by Telecom on their Fibre nodes, it will allow the product to come out of pilot phase next year and go to a consumable wholesale product offering for all Service Providers to consume.
