Hi there
I'm in christchurch and am moving house from one side of christchurch to another, how does number portability/moveability work? I'm currently on telstraclear cable and the new house also has both cable and telecom is it possible to take you number to the other side of town or do they still provision phone numbers by area, and if this is the case how does this tie in with the new voip services which are available where your number doesn't relate to where you live at all?

Thanks

Number Portability:

Cable to cable in chch is just a simple move of house nothing more

Cable to TC in chch requires a bit more talking with both sides if you cut your service with TCL then move to TC then you will loose your number porting requires an active service but then also say if you have the triple play package it can get a bit messy.
