So today is the first of the month, when my torrent plan refreshes.

Before going to bed last night I set up a few automatic downloads to start at 2am. No other activity during that time.

Just having looked at the taskbar usage monitor shows this:

Xnet usage monitor

I know that this is probably not the most accurate measure of activity, but considering I had no other PCs on after 10pm last night and considering my account would presumably reset at midnight, why is there even any charges registering for data activity - for supposedly "free data".

I know the torrent plan is no longer available, but surely I should still be on the same terms and conditions as I was when I signed up a couple years ago.

The 'extra' charge is due to the new 15% GST rate, not your data usage.

Old GST rate: $62.17 + 12.5% GST = $69.95
New GST rate: $62.17 + 15% GST = $71.50

Looking at the image posted I cannot see any charges for data, the cost to date listed would be your monthly plan charge which you would be charged even if your modem was off for the entire month.
