Hello,

I recently got VFX all setup and going (yesterday) but when ever a phone call comes through it appears the callerid stuff updates the phone and resets it back to some (incorrect) date/time.

What is the game plan with this? I saw a post back in 2008 from someone, but seeing as it was 2 years old I figured I would post a new one.

Any ideas?

Cheers
Troy

Time is setup by the device settings , timezone, daylight savings etc, if this is a VFX device then it should be all set and should be no issue, if it is an Open VFX device then it may need some configuration from your end, what device do you have ?

Mine is a managed device I believe, because it is now locked down after the reboots yesterday - it is a Linksys SPA 2101 (from memory)

Ahh yes you are right 2102

I can't login to the device because it is all locked down due to subscribing to VFX (not open VFX)

Suppose I will just call the helpdesk :)

You can still log into the voice status page which will tell us what we need, it is only the admin section you can not get to !

Ahh well it would look as though this datetime is set on the SPA, as when I go into it, the device has January set as the date.

I spoke to the helpdesk on Sat and the guy mentioned that it was due to my modem/router not having the correct DNS settings, so updated that, rebooted it and waited, but no difference.

So I have logged a helpdesk email to see if someone can sort it out; it's not a biggy, but would be nice if we could get it sorted.
Another weird thing is that my upload speed doesn't seem to have changed at all (still sitting around 140-150kbps), when my upload is around 700kbps...would have expected being on FS/FS these numbers would have been closer together Undecided

Anyhow been a couple of days so far and no reply from helpdesk; maybe they are all puzzling over it Innocent

You need to have DNS set as the time settings require a DNS lookup for the NTP servers, your 2102 will need to have this set, try setting your 2102 to a static IP and set the DNS to your router or you could put our DNS directly in there, this will be the reason why your time is not set on the phone or 2102 ,

Okay, will give that a nudge, but will I be able to make these changes? ie the DNS updates and IP address, now that it is a VFX component (and as such locked down) and managed by Xnet?

yes, we only manage the Voice component, the actual router config is entirely up to you and is not locked down ... never has been Wink

btw you will need to manage it from the 2102 LAN side unless you allowed WAN web access

righto DNS is set on both my modem/router and also the SPA. Rebooted the SPA. Still no difference; it still thinks it is 1st January 2003.

Already had a static on the SPA
