Get 1GB of Mobile Broadband data for just $49+gst a month. + Free 3G VMC card worth $399 when you sign up for 24 months

Was $149+gst month. Telecom offers Free T3G card when you sign on for 36 months on a 100mb + plan @ $52.44 a month. T3G max data plan 400mb @ $99 per month

GPRS Data roaming to 30+ countries.
3G Data roaming to 7+ Countries.
T3G Data roaming USA and Australia only

Edit: To clarify 1GB data plan WAS $149+gst NOW $49+gst, 1GB plan is avaliable open term ($399 for the data card).

oooh. sounds pretty affordable.. where can one get this??????? is it on Vodafone NZ's website already? mmmm

edit: it's $149+GST... i read it as $49 from the first paragraph... mmm kinda misleaded here. hahhaa oh well... i will put the VMC thought aside for now...

You were right the first time it WAS $149+gst is NOW $49+gst.

Call into your local VF Retailer they should know about it by now, as for the website... not as of 9:40am perhaps after their morning coffee.

The increase in roaming text charges will offset the loss on mobile data

Surely you should know the answer johnr? :-)

I was a told a while back all the new 3G cards in NZ are firmware upgradeable and that apparently as of recently they are even being sent out new cards with HSDPA firmware in them (can't confirm this info).

It's certainly a great deal and is the same deal available to the data resellers at present. It's just a shame that it's a limited time promo and they haven't decided to offer any deals on lower plans.

Honestly I don't know much about HSDPA, I am guessing it is a different freq. than the current UMTS.

The current model is the Noavatel Merlin™ U630

If you are only using it for data then I don't see a problem, just refrain form making voice calls on it, if I remember correctly I once had to deal with a customer who's son had stolen his data sim and used it to make calls at about $20 a min.

so any word on when will Vodafone NZ's website be updated with the rightful latest information/promotion deal you just mentioned? Does TelstraClear get the same deal too?

I'm on the process to migrate my Vodafone accounts over to TelstraClear for true single bill management, hopefully i can get the same deal via TelstraClear too.

HSDPA will run on the same frequency, but I dont think that a simply firmware upgrade will make the actual 3G cards capable of HSDPA, but anyway, let's see. The only HSDPA cards at the moment are the Sierra ones if I am right..

Oh anyone know if VMC (a.k.a. Novatel Wireless Merlin U630) is compatible with Pocket PC 2003? I have an IPAQ H3850 with pcmcia jacket running windows mobile 2003. Would be great if it is compatible with VMC.

Can anyone clarify whether it's necessary to sign up for a 24 month contract in order to take up this offer? I understand that the deal on the hardware only applies to 24 month contracts, but it's not clear whether the $50+GST pricing plan can be taken up on an open term basis.

The Merlin U740 is HSDPA compliant. I was under the impression that some of the new VMC cards being sold in NZ were these new cards rather than the U630 but this doesn't appear to be the case.
