I'd love to hear if anyone else has encountered this issue: When I dial or receive a call, on the iPhone 4, the call connects as you'd expect, the call timer starts counting, but I can't hear or say anything.

Person on the other end has dead air too.

In some cases, if I stay on the line for 30+ seconds, I can finally hear the other caller and they can hear me.

I've logged a call with VFNZ, but they say it's unheard of (no pun intended).

Multiple locations throughout Auckland. A complete reset of the phone (including a software restore with no backup restore) didn't change the behaviour, but it went away for a bit then started happening again this morning.

Interestingly I have observed similary a couple of times talking to a mate of mine - we're both on Vodafones, my end is an iPhone 3G but his is a 'droid - not sure which version.

Had it just this morning, he was driving and I wrote it off as related to this, but it's a bit like you say, except it occurs intermittantly for a few seconds at a time during a phonecall. All voice, and background noise all dissapeared (both ways, apparently) for a few seconds, then returned.

Unsure if it's directly related but it's more info for the pot anyway.

Yes, I get this as well on occasion, just yesterday in fact. Manukau supa center. Partner and I were trying to find each other in a store and were talking, line went silent, then came back after about 5 seconds.

I've gotten this as well before, mostly in Manukau & area.

Thanks Ben. Again dissapointing that it takes a public (third party) appeal to get attention to a problem like this. :(

Interesting, because Ben's report is from either calling in or out... So it wouldn't be only when calling 777 or 888?

Sorry, what I meant is that if Ben's report is for incoming and outgoing calls, how come you only identified the problem as being on calls to 777 and 888?
