Hi, I recently got myself a Vodafone 845 phone, and it has been great. We live in Springfield which is a 3g extend signal area, and up until recently has been connecting and showing 3g  whilst at home. a few days ago i tested using the phone as a modem for the computer, and ever since then it has only registered as GPRS when at home. when i am in ChCh, the signal is 3g and all works fine.

The main issue is that the signal at home is still good, as my wife has the same phone, and it still displays 3g. i downloaded an app that showed what cell tower, signal type etc, and this shows that we are registering on the same tower, except on different signal types.

it seems to be that my phone isn't receiving 3g extend, but am at a loss as to how to reset this.
have tried all the usual of switching off, removing the battery, re-logging it onto the 3g network when in ChCh, and nothing seems to work.

Please help.

Have you tried in another 3G Extended area? This would narrow down whether it's your specific cellsite or the phone.

You can force your phone to only use 3G(WCDMA) under your settings somewhere, once its locked onto 3G go back to dual GSM/WCDMA. It should then defaiult back to 3G.

I go through a few extend areas on the way home, but hard to tell. it had worked at home up until a few nights ago, when i  tried using it as a modem. Also my wife's phone is still working ok.

Currently when at home, when i scan for networks, it will only show Vodafone 2G. if i scan in town it brings up all the Vodafone, 2g, and Telecom XT networks. tried forcing it onto the 3G network when it was receiving it, but hasn't made a difference when i got home.

Sounds like the handset has a issue.
