Coming to the T-Box after being a Series 1 Tivo user for 5+ years and seeing all of the 'feedback' people have been posting on the T-Box issues thread, thought it was time we started recording the features we are missing or think should be part of the current T-Box package.

So based on feedback from my family, here is our list (these are all features that were in our 10+ year old Series 1 Tivo):

- Being able to search for a program to record rather than having to page through listings
- Should be able to sort recorded programs by date and it should remember between restarts
- When coming back to a viewed recording, the first selection should be 'last viewed'
- Should be able to prioritise recordings, e.g. always record the News even if there is a clash
- The time it takes to change channels is too long
- The time it takes to page through recordings is too long
- Being able to get recordings off the T-Box to other network devices around the home (OK wasn't stock in a Series 1 Tivo)

Things we like over what we had before:

- Recording quality is great
- Multiple tuners

Still broken/not working since the last big update:

- Colour issues when turning on the TV to watch a program
- Blank screen that makes it look like the unit has died, recovers after a bit of channel changing.
- Multi-channel audio not available via HDMI

Doesnt it do that by default? all my recordings are listed by date, oldest at the top

From what the tech told me when he installed mine was more to do with "incompatible" tv's and less to do with the t-box itself, he thought they wouldnt be able to do anything about it... luckily i dont have that one issue Smile

I should have said, being able to sort in either order, i.e. newest or oldest first.

None of my other HDMI equipment exhibit this behaviour and it doesn't do it all the time. In the problems FAQ they had this problem as one that was going to be fixed in the last update.

My understandins is the chipset doesn't support this so it'll never happen.

It's actually something that is very rare on STB's anywhere in the world. MySky is actually one of a handful of boxes that support this, however I suspect it will become commonplace in the future.

According to Telstra the T-Box can do multi-channel audio through HDMI but they have not configured it yet.

+1 on the seearch facility. That's a big hole in their feature set.

A few more things I would add:

1. Live TV buffer should continue recording whilst viewing another prerecording.

At the moment the live buffer gets reset and only begins after you stop watching.  It would be nice for it to continue while you watch something prerecorded.

2. Live buffer shouldn't reset when you switch channels.

The Tivo one didn't

3. If you hit record while watching live TV, it should pull the start of the program from the live buffer and append to that (so you get the whole program saved).

Again, the Tivo did this 10yrs ago

4. There is currently no way to view all your series links.

The "All" page only shows all the programs that are scheduled to be recorded. If there are any series links that don't have matching shows in the next week, they are not shown.

5. The record padding setting should be dynamic.

It should be automatically added at record time if possible (ie decoders are free) otherwise it is skipped.  It shouldn't cause conflicts unless there is, perhaps, a extra setting to force the padding.

I also like a return of the "Alternate Viewing times" that you could view on the old digital box.

This would be especially useful, seeing as the TBox doest pull the whole program off the buffer if you press record half way through, of finding out when the next repeat broadcast of the program is and setting a record for that time.

I like all of the suggestions so far, one option I would really like is being able to block individual channels from being watched, the digital box had this option and so did the analogue box. also an option for the recorded program listing (planner) could also have options to list alphabetically (A-Z and Z-A) as well as oldest to newest and newest to oldest.
