Have a parent-support type situation where someone is keen to go with move from River to Fusion/VFX, but I'm baulking at the cost of the new all-in-one boxes, plus they already have a WRT120N, so they're not gaining a heap by upgrading. On the other hand, I assume installation is slightly more complicated with an additional device. Have been reading old threads here, and it seems that the SPA2102 has fewer problems/less likely to lose configuration?
Or would I be better to advise them to stump up for the all-in-one box. Because of the holiday shut-down, I'm not likely to be on hand for the install, but I suspect I might be better to delay until I'm next up?
Any suggestions much appreciated.

Main difference is the PAP2T is an older generation (now obsolete) device vsa the SPA2102 that is still current. PAP2T has no routing capability, no T38 FAX and only does a single simultaneous G.729 channel.

Thanks. I'm not sure that the more advanced capabilities would be much used, but does the SPA2102 have web configuration via ethernet, where PAP is dialled in? Anyway, there's only $20 in it, and the routing could possibly come in useful.

Not sure what you mean by the confugration comment. Both are configured in exactly the same way via the a web interface or provisioning URL.

It was an older thread, but it impled the PAP could be configured by pluggin in a phone and dialling commands. Obviously much prefer web interface or provisioning URL. Cheers.

Every Linksys/Cisco voice device can have things like the IP, netmask etc set by the built in IVR. You can also use this to reset the device.

You can't actuually configure the VoIP settings using this.
