If anyone lost a blackberry today 5/1/11 at wellington airport.
I've got it - its on vodafone.
I'll need proof of ownership i.e. what button is broken/missing from the keypad before I send it back to you.
If no reply here - off to the police station it goes.

Murray.

Just gonna say, you're a great person for making an effort to get it back to its owner. Blackberry's aren't cheap. Good on ya Murray.

I like my expensive toys too, I'd like to think someone would do the same for me... I'd be devastated if I lost my iphone.

Its locked with a password - pulled the memory card from it. Nothing helpful on it.
Might pop the sim into another phone, see if its unlocked, and get contacts that way.

I'll give it a couple days - I'm hoping someone rings it.

I found an iPhone on Ponsonby Road a couple of months back.  It was clearly an Australian iPhone as most of the contacts were Aussie numbers, and had apps on it like a Domino's one which we don't have here.

I tried texting one of the contacts on the phone (someone who had been conversing with the owner on the same night) to say I had it, but didn't hear anything back.  So I took it to Auckland Central Police Station on the Monday morning, and left my details as the finder.

Come Wednesday night, I got a call from an Australian number on my own iPhone.  It was the owner who took the time to ring me and say thanks for handing it in, and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't just kept.

The Blackberry might have a remote locking mechanism .. and after a few tries it sterialises the phone and memory card (and SIM card).

It surprises me that anyone wouldn't try and get the phone back to the owner. Especially if it's unlocked and you can check the contacts etc.

Anyway, nice work, Murray and John!

It was locked. 10 tries at password before it's wiped. Blackberrys are no good to anyone except the owner anyway. All that security stuff on them.
