You shouldn't test using the Wellington service if you're on TelstraClear. Since they don't peer at WIX your traffic could be being routed anywhere, which probably explains your high ping time.

yea wellington speedtest for alot of people goes overseas for its test.. which really is kinda pointless

If you are on TelstraClear you should use the Christchurch server for speedtest.
