I’ve just switched my parents from Telecom to Vodafone (ihug) broadband, the main reason for the switch was to get the mysky and the soon to be coming isky.

Everything should just work the same as before… or so you would think.

My parents have a internet radio (musicpal) which “tunes in” to mp3 and wma streams from the likes of The BBC, ABC, RadioNZ etc.

After the change in ISP the wma streams to the musicpal no longer work. The streams still work for Media Player and VLC on both Mac and PC.

I called the Vodafone help desk, and after about an hour I was unable to get a resolution.

The things I have tried to fix the problem:

-          Updated and rolled back the firmware on the musicpal

-          Change the DNS to a xtra server, used fixed IP address etc

-          Emailed the help people at musicpal

-          Shifted the musicpal to a DMZ ip to have direct connection to the interwebs

-          Done pcap (wireshark) traces on a working and non-working connection looking for dropped packets and block ports.

I’m now pulling my hair (if I had any) out.

Anybody got any ideas what more I can do?

Cheers
