Vodafone's Aussie network is getting worse.

Based upon reports I've been hearing their have been massive performance increases since Xmas.

When you have 3 customers joining the class action who aren't even on the Vodafone network (3 use the exceptionally well performing 3/Telstra GIS network and roam on Next G) you have to take many of the comments people make with a grain of salt.

How did you come to this conclusion?

3 weeks before Christmas Vodafone NZ made live another 2 brand new RNCs from NSN in Auckland and Wellington this makes 8 RNC's live now to our customers.

Sites are getting migrated across now but a handful sites were migrated before Christmas

Actually I've found Voda NZs network service especially 3G to have improved allot over the past 6 months.  Can't comment of their customer service as I have never needed to call them..

My understanding is that 3 customers have not been able to roam onto nextg for quite some time - there was a big uproar in OZ when it happened as they now roam onto VF when outside of the cities.

I have noticed some improvements in throughput, it's more the coverage gaps, particualy around Auckland and Wellington where I get no data at all or fall back to GPRS while friends on XT in the same location have good solid 3G signals. I use XT from mobile data on my laptop, but on my iPhone I use Vodafone (Works choice, not mine) and am not really all that interested in high throughput. I just wan't a decent connection for calls, texts and minimal amounts of 3G data.

There are places in the Wellington CBD (The Bristol and JJ Murphys on Cuba St for instance) where I actually get 'No Service'. Not even GSM. I also get No Service in most of my girlfriends house on the North Shore in Auckland. The Vodafone network map shows good coverage for her address, but you have to be standing in just the right place to be able to get a signal at all, and you have to go outside and stand in the right place to hold a phone call properly. Granted that the geography may be a factor as she is in a valley, but with an XT SIM in my iPhone at the same address the coverage isn't great, but I can still make a phone call indoors.

Been playing a bit with an XT SIM in my phone and receptions levels do seems to be much better, and also calls generally sound better too as they are not (can't be) being pushed back to GSM.

It's interesting to read that some VF AU store owners are looking to join in the class action case....

Whatever the facts of the issues they're having are it's the court of public opinion thats determining the reality. And on the face of that I'd say VF Australia need to do a much better job communicating with their staff and retail support chains, because they are the points of contact for their customers.

Maybe this is the strain of having high competition... Let's hope this does not happen after our regulation.
They may loose another network...

I wonder how Vodafone Intl feel about this class action. There have been rumors for years that they were thinking of selling off Voda AU, maybe this will push them to do it..
