Can anyone on TC access these sites?

https://uts.nlm.nih.gov/
http://rxterms.nlm.nih.gov:8080/

I don't usually have an issue using either WXC, or Telecom, but with TC, I often can't reach these sites.  I've complained but the guy at the TC helpdesk says he has no problems reaching them.

Thanks,

Anyone know why TC has an issue with NIH ( National Institute of Health ) sites. Most days i can't reach them and have to switch ISPs. The odd day they work. I think this started happening about 6 or more months ago.  If I access them from a RDP in the USA, there's no issue whatever.

These sites are super slow to respond, even with my desktop Ultrafast BB connection.

Might be limited international bandwidth (their end), try a US based proxy or VPN to access the site for comparison.

I don't think so because it's fine with Telecom mobile and WXC. Just not TC.
And it's pretty fast when I check it from an Amazon EC2 instance.

I have the same problem with the following sites for the past 6 months, only on TelstraClear:

They work from other ISP, only form TelstraClear, they can not be accessed or they are very very slow (more then 5 minutes, but usually times out).

What is TelstraClear going to do about it. I will probably need to change provider as I need access to these for a volunteer project and I working on.

I've now got a Telecom 3G account ... so I can access these sites which I need to access the NLM SOAP APIs.

Pity that no one from TC cares to fix these issues - but I guess they've got major issues now in Chch including scum stealing backup generators.

Im sorry to hear that the web performance is poor for some sites.
I know the team at TelstraClear invest in people and equipment to provide the best experience possible for its clients.
The first thing i check is the DNS settings on the device accessing the internet via a TelstraClear connection.

The best TelstraClear DNS caches are
203.97.78.43
203.97.78.44

TelstraClear also use a transparent http proxy farm to improve the performance and reduce the cost associated with international web traffic.
The transparent proxy farm only looks at port 80 traffic.

The first two urls provided in the post are not using going via the proxy as they use
https://uts.nlm.nih.gov/    https = port 443 (by passes the proxy)
http://rxterms.nlm.nih.gov:8080/  :8080  uses port 8080 (by passes the proxy)

Are these sites slow sometimes or all times of the day?

For the other sites posted
http://www.goes.noaa.gov
http://weather.gov
http://www.nhc.noaa.gov

I use a "addon" to firefox called "Headerspy" to track the proxy that is used as its displayed in the "via" field of a http page.

For those with issues with port 80 web traffic which proxy is in your "via" field?

e.g. for me the sites load well but im keen to hear if there still slow
http://www.nlm.nih.gov = bc5
http://www.goes.noaa.gov = bc7
http://weather.gov = bc2
http://www.nhc.noaa.gov = bc2

If the performance to a site is poor then please log a Ticket with the help desk and post the trouble ticket id provided.
If you can provide the information below it will help the engineer diagnosing the issue
the time of day
traceroute
if the traffic is port 80 which proxy is used in the headers e.g. bc3
