I'm a one week old PVR noob and loving it.
I'm running Saturn analogue into a wintv pvr-150 and then sending the picture
to a tv using the tv-out of a geforce mx440.
I have just signed up for Saturn digital and broadband and it should be installed in about 2 weeks.
Aside from being horified to find (from this forum) that the digital decoder uses crapy connectors
(although my very old TV probably makes this a mute point) , I'm worried
that I might run into some unforseen problems and my setup may not work with Saturn digital.
Surely the Saturn decoded converts the digital signal to analogue before
it sends it to the TV , or in my case, the pvr card ?
- and hence my pvr gets the same signal whether I'm on Saturn analogue or digital ?
Otherwise wouldn't I need a digital TV ?
So as far as I see it, I'd be getting a digital signal,
The decoder converts it to ananlogue,
my pvr card converts this to digital,
and my tv out converts it back to analogue.
This seems rather wasteful.
I had been thinking of upgrading my tv but it doesn't sound like it's worth it
if there is no component or s-vid.
Sorry if these are a dumb questions.
Thanks,
