Hi all

I have a very strange issue with my new VFX account.

I can call NZ mobiles, NZ landlines, and international numbers fine. I can also receive calls on the number as well.

However, when I call the VFX Voice Portal Number, 082210, I get disconnected with a SIP 701 status (which means the other party hung up, as I understand).

Also, calling any 0800 number, after a few seconds I get disconnected with the same 701 error. This is even for the VFX tech support line.

I have logged a fault, but as I am using an "unsupported" device (A Siemens Gigaset A580) I'm being told they are not going to prioritise. Not happy with that assessment, because all the other calls are find and dandy.

Anybody else shed some light here?

Cheers

Richard

The reason why you have been told this is because there are a vast range of SIP devices out there with different SIP stacks, the support teams are generally not SIP experts so trying to diagnose faults on unknown hardware with different configurations on equipment they may have never dealt with can be a time consuming task, this increases wait times.

In saying that can you supply the info from the invite you are sending ?

Hi,

Thanks for the quick response.

This really doesn't seem like a SIP / config problem because I'm basically able to make calls to and from the device for all geographies except 0800 xxx and the VFX port number.

The phone is saying "701" which means the other side hung up, which makes me think it's actually a problem on VFX's end.

When you say "invite", do you mean the logfile from the device? Trying to get hold of that.

Cheers

Yep I can see the issue you are not replying to the 200 OK for the answer message, the call gets connected and we respond with a 200 OK which is not acknowledged by you so the call gets dropped

No we do not send a 701 at all, I think you device is not responding to the 200OK so it shows you the 701, my first thoughts will be your codecs, try using only G722, G711a and U and G729

Interesting.

I just tried using "Telephone" on OS X.

Same symptoms, but here's the log (sorry it's so long)

I see the codec change however no change as you are still not responding to the 200 OK

But only for 0800 numbers, and Voice Portal, right?

Just tried a call to my cellphone, lasted 45 seconds.

This is your call, se the 200 OK and the times, you are supposed to acknowledge this message, since we do not see the ACK we drop the call after 6 seconds

Got it.

Doe you see the 200 ACKS from the call I made to my cellphone at 18:36 or thereabouts?

Ok.

So calls to 08xx numbers make my Gigaset A580, AND the "Telephone" app on OS X break the SIP protocol.

My settings are attached (for the A580)

Any ideas what is so special about the 08xx numbers?

Cheers

There is no difference between the two 200 OK messages, for some reason you are not acknowledging it for certain numbers , possibly configs or possibly dial plans since it's effecting 082210 or 0800, if you dialed 9503000 does it connect ?, if it does then I would suggest it has to be some thing to do with the config of this device seems very strange since it affects 08xxx by the looks of it
