Just out of curiousity.
Does anyone know how much it costs vodafone to send a txt message to a telecom mobile?
I remember when telecom first introduced their "unlimited txt messaging" and vodafone had a huge fit and tried to block all txts coming from telecoms network? but they were unable to because telecom wasnt sending it directly to vodafone but using some kind of overseas gateway? therefore bypassing having to pay vodafone when sending them a txt from one of their customers 027 mobiles? am i correct there?
I just wonder why vodafone has not introduced something for its prepay customers aka budget concious customers to allow more free communication? akin to telecoms $10 text...
I'm already aware of the $9.95 add on (1000 txts to 021/029 only) for on account...
I believe that it would be in vodafones best interests (long term) to do something similar, because with the majority of young customers going to telecom for $10 txt, it's these young customers who grow up and become contracted customers. And if they are already on telecom the chance of them moving to vodafone at this stage would be somewhat unlikely! ...
assuming telecom was paying about 5c per txt to a 021 number that would be $15 loss if they were all sent to 021/029 numbers (of course that doesnt happen in real life though, i would imagine most 027 customers are sending the majority of their txts to fellow 027 customers, which would be free for telecom?)
anyhow, just curious, sorry if this is a hashed out, old subject...
