From about 9:30pm Friday 19th May ClearNET international traffic stopped working!
Only NZ sites worked. To view this site I had to use Opera and disable images so there were no ads otherwise Firefox tried to load the ads from a.tribalfusion.com or something and it stopped loading.
To make sure that I was sure of the international traffic being down, I tried a number of national and international websites on my computer and my friends computer (also with TelstraClear Net). And I was right, both his and my international sites were down and everything else worked!
The strange thing was that I could still connect to Google Talk and MSN. I asked my friends if google.com and yahoo.com and other international sites were working for them and they said yes. (they had Xtra etc, but not Clearnet). So that proved that ClearNet went down at about 9:30pm and is still currently down while I'm writing this.
Annoying!!!!!!!

And at exactly 10:54pm same day ClearNET started working again.

If you had this same experience please tell me that I wasn't imagining anything by posting here~! I am 100% sure that TelstraClear stuffed up between 9:30pm and 10:54pm Friday 19th May 2006.

freitasm: I guess the ClearNet circuits are separated from the Paradise.net circuits? I am on TCL cable-modem and all working ok...

Mmm. They could be - because I am certain that the international traffic wasn't working.
Meh~ I'll contact them sometime to find out what happened. At least the traffic wasn't down for days. Laughing

what DNS server(s) do you use?
I had an issue a few hours ago where I couldn't connect to a couple of hosts: gphoto.org akamai sourceforge and probably some others.
I am on Xtra.

I lost international traffic on Paradise cable however could surf by typing IP addresses so it was probably more of a DNS issue.

It is always a good idea to keep a list of DNS servers which are not fussy about whom they respond to in case your ISP's DNS servers have issues for some reason.

Xtra's problems seem to be recoouring again this afternoon, apparently they've been having problems with their authentication server since 15:10 resulting in nationwide problems.
