Quick question - does anyone know how much longer Vodafone intend to keep the GPRS network running? I've had a quick look on the Vodafone web site and on the 'net in general, but didn't have any luck finding an answer.

I've heard some whispers (totally unconfirmed) of Vodafone looking at the possibility of shutting down their GSM network around 2020. There is no real need for them to do this however unless they were desperate for 900 and 1800 spectrum for other needs. With the number of GSM devices, particularly telemetry that are deployed it be safe to assume you've probably be looking at 5+ years notice of any such move.

Vodafone have advised the 2G network will still be in place till 2020
