I was looking to buy a Sagem mobile, but shops said I was better to stay with more well known brands. However, I like the shape (flipdown) and keypad. I just need a mobile for texting and phone calls, so don't need a lot of features. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Sagem... is that the French brand? If you post a link to a site with the actual model, I'm sure someone will recognise it and provide an opinion on it.
The Vodafone/Sagem VS3 (Vodafone Simply) is what it sounds like. It is an incredibly basic phone with limited features (call text phonebook) no wap, no customisation. If you only want to use your phone just to call and text it could be for you, but there are other arguably simplier phones, cheaper phones with a greater range of features. Such a phone is aimed at a niche (a small one at that) in my opinion.
Making a phone that focuses on ease of use is a good idea in principle, but the user interface on most cheaper Nokia phones is as simple as you can get, so I think that makes the Vodafone Simply somewhat redundant.

Correct. Cheaper phones are usually simple by virtue of being cheap. Often much cheaper than the 'Simply' units, and with more features should you choose to use them.
If you are after a budget phone, probably better off buying one that is the size and shape that appeals to you the most.
