Hi All,
Not sure this is the right place for this message but anyway,
I frequently use a vodafone 3G card with my laptop on the road, and connect through Orcon ADSL in the office. My problem is I have to switch between SMTP servers every time (using Thunderbird) Its not a huge hassle (just change the default server) but it is just a minor hassle I could do without.

Thanks in advance for any solutions

You can subscribe to a SMTP service such as http://www.smtp.com... I use http://www.myrealbox.com, free service sponsored by Novell, but they closed registrations four years ago...

Sign up for a gmail account. Use their authenticating encrypted smtp server from any connection, and just make sure your reply-to and from: addresses are set the way you want them.

It may come out as

From: Nicholas Wood (cbcnz123456@gmail.c0m on behalf of cbcnz123456@orcon.net.mz)

or something like that.

When they hit reply, it would be addressed:

To: Nicholas Wood (cbcnz123456@orcon.net.mz)

Does this help? Let me know if you need more help if you go with this free option.

Get a free vodafone.net.nz Email address but only use this in the out going advanced settings

Don't forget to click on the option POP/IMAP password (online in Vodafone mail)

user name is full email example(at vodafone dot net dot nz) NOT your mobile number

Then just use this on the out going smtp authication

Hope this is clear if not ask away and I will answer best as possible

Yes it can be used from any ISP as this is only used when you send Email

Does not matter what the incoming server is
