I just discovered that one of my two local cabinets has vdsl and the other due for upgrade next month

Does WxC have any plans ?

Haven't heard anything from WxC so not sure if they are even going to be offering it TBH?

I would think that most ISPs will offer VDSL eventually, its just a question of time, and timeframes have kept being pushed out for a while.

Just an fyi, you refer to "one of my two local cabinets", you dont get a choice between cabinets; if your one is the one without vdsl, then no vdsl for you unforch

This came from an answer from another ISP. There said 2 VDSL cabinets were near my property one was ready and one next month. I had a look at the TCNZ Wholesale site myself and neither cabinet has reach to my property. The closest one [which is the VDSL ready one] coverage stops approx 100m short of my property :-(

This ISP indicated that the TCNZ maps would change over time as reach was extended

I guess I'll have to wait for TCNZ to update their vdsl coverage maps and extend reach, meanwhile I have no choice to have adsl2+ at 10Mbit down/1Mbit up [thats my sync rates]

All that said most of my suburb will be in vdsl reach so I guess if WxC have no vdsl plans they will loose customers ?

Of course that assumes the cost of residential vdsl is the same or less than adsl2+...

VDSL2 is only going to be offered to people less than 1km away from the exchange/cabinet which equates to those getting ~16-24meg off ADSL2+. Assuming you have already been upgraded to a cabinet then you wont be getting VDSL2 because you are too far away from the cabinet (10meg suggests you are quite a distance from the cabinet or exchange, or your wiring is of bad quality).

Im not aware of any ISPs that are currently selling vdsl to residential customers, however plenty are doing closed trials - so its not a problem with WxC. They seem pretty adaptive so I would expect them to be one of the first to offer it

I dont think there has been any confirmation of where the prices will lie, but I would guess $10-20 extra per month

Well then I wonder where my address features in UFB, maybe I am not in the 75% that are envisioned to have UFB !

Looking at the TCNZ wholesale rollout plan I can't help but think TCNZ [retail] may get the jump on many ISPs and offer vdsl where no one else can because they weren't ready [except prehaps those doing these "closed Trials"] but alas as you indicate I get this feeling that vdsl will be a 'premium' service i.e. customers will have to pay more for it than adsl if both are available. I wonder how vdsl clne cost compares to adsl clne etc

Oh well time to move of my FS[4Mbit]/128 River plan, problem is that I'd like to stay with WxC but their competition is offering better deals for FS/FS [naked or otherwise] mmm
