Recently my roadside cabinet was upgraded to ADSL2+
Finally I was migrated to ADSL2+
Previously there was NO difference in download speeds at ANY time of the day,
( typically 6.7M down )
Come the upgrade..GREAT typically 16M down..during the day..however after about
7pm the download speed reduces to 2M-3M or slower.
Modem sych speeds remain around 18M-19M.
Anyone else experience substantial slowing at night ?
Have spoken with the vodafone team 2 weeks ago and they are still
" looking into it " !!

No, happens any time after about 6pm starts slowing then by 7pm or 8pm its below
3M.
Tried 3 different modems, 2 different computers, via ethernet via wireless, no difference.
pings show nothing remarkable.
Strange i had no issues pre the migration.
Maybe its a backhaul issue ?

Hi DHC3. We've got the same problem. I'm on DSL with Telstra in North Canterbury, where we only get ADSL1 as we're in the wops wops. I'm fortunate enough to get about 6000kpbs constant connection (as seen in modem status), and during most of the day I can often get 600KB/s or higher download speeds from good servers.

But lately I noticed speeds were dramatically slowing down at night, to the point of feeling like its on dial up. Downloads can sit at about 15KB/s and just general browsing was slowing to the point where my wife was complaining. I contatced Telstra support and they got me to run speed tests off their server which basically confirmed this. From about 6pm til late evening our broadband is terrible.

Is there anything we can do about this? I'm assuming its a Telecom wholesale line and the slowdown is due to extra usage in the evenings on our local exchange, so it wouldn't make much difference which ISP we're on, or would it?

Is both domestic and internationally speed is slow at peak time or just international speed?

Compare a Speedtest to Auckland to the US west coast eg: LA or San Jose

im vodafone here too.
Line speeds are terrible at night. Im dropping from 350kBps to 50-100 often with big lag spikes.

They have major issues with data at the moment, people arnt being capped because they arnt recording how much data goes through properly. I had 2 months worth where 5-15gb of data went out that i wasnt using.
Proved this but turning off my router for a day and somehow downloaded around 700mb.
So had to get it uncapped at no charge after pissing around on the phone for ages.

It;s not possible for something to slow down by 500%.
100% is the maximum reduction in speed it is possible to have. Once you have a 100% reduction in speed you are down to zero speed and that is the slowest you can go.

I was not using " 500% " semantically.
