Any reason for us in NZ to be worried? Do they have the same insecure way of operating on the NZ network where all users are allowed by default?

Wow that is pretty scarry, I don't think the software etc is exactly the same as Vodafone NZ don't register phones to the 'Sure signal' devices in NZ as far as i know. However i believe they are from the same manufaturer so they could have the same setup and weakness.

Any posts are personal comments and not that of my employer

Was just reading this over at TheInquirer and it sounds pretty alarming to me. Someone did comment that version two has plugged the wholes so who knows whether we should be worried.

I guess we'll have to wait for johnr to make a comment about this,

Here's the actual details

A pretty neat hack.

Audiophiles are such twits! They buy such pointless stuff: Gold plated cables, $2000 power cords. Idiots.

OOOHHHH HYPERFIBRE!

The Sure Signal units sold by Vodafone NZ are on a later and different software load that does not have the security issue.

Thanks

Interestingly this all happened about a year ago.
THC have just recently publicized this.... any coincidence that phone hacking is all over the UK press at the moment???

Properly fixed or just a different root password?

Is there a way to tell my phone never to connect to a femtocell?
