I am currently a Telecom customer but have been considering a move to Vodafone for some time now, or at least having a device on both networks.

I spoke to the VF customer support centre to discuss plan options and what not. The person I spoke to made comments about the limited number of 021 + 6 digits numbers avalible.

Having a shorter (and therefore easier to remember number [for customers]) number is somewhat of a big factor in my decision making process here.

Apparently (according to the rep) the reason went to 021 + 8 for PrePay customers is so that once 021 + 6 numbers run out for on account then they will have 021 + 7

Does anyone know if there is any truth to this? Would it be worth me buying a cheap mobile and throwing in on a cheap You Choose plan to secure a 021 + 6 number?

The rep told me you get an 021 + 7 if you:
a) change from Telecom and wish to keep the same number (With 021 instead of 025/027...obviosuly)
b) want it (for some strange reason...like having 021 MYNAMEHERE)
c) there are no 021 + 6 avalible at the time your account is allocated a number on the network

I got an on account plan just a few days ago and I had a large list of 6 digit numbers to choose from. It didnt seem at all that there was a shortage. I even got a number with a triple digit repeat Laughing

Yeah I signed up on account last monday and got a 6 digit number. I guess the CS rep was wrong.
