The difference here is first this is advertised (used to be something you had to ask for) and importantly they used to require that you did not have the bottom level broadband services and you had to have their Digital TV service.

So really it is "naked cable" for only some areas in Wellington and Christchurch - ie those suburbs that have telephone poles that the thick ugly black cable can be strung from........

You still need to be on the 20GB minimum plan. The "bottom level broadband services" are still not available as Naked Broadband so I can't see what has changed. Like our esteemed leader I too have used broadband without a phone with Voip for years.

Probably just cashing in on the interest that another providers non-announcement has created with the general ignorant public reevaluating their needs for a landline.

Where did you gather that from? As far as I can tell its for anywhere on the TCL Cable Network?

Exactly.
What he's saying is that the TCL network coverage is not the same as "Wellington" as stated in their announcement here  without qualifiers.

Ok maybe I'm just being a bit slow given the time of the day, but the original announcement had the terms "over our cable broadband network" and "Naked Broadband for Wellington, Kapiti and Christchurch!"

What part of that is Wellington/Christchurch only? i.e. I have cable in Kapiti - doesn't mean that I have thick ugly black cables hanging outside my house...

He's trying to sound funny either because he finds himself funny or quoting Banks in his statement ( For the record that stopped aucklanders getting cable) " The thought of thick black cables blocking whatever view aucklanders actually have scares me"

Most of Kapiti/Wellington/lower-upper Hutt/South/East chch has cable - Execptions being ofcourse where cable cannot be put into a location due to owner/layout of houses or it not being economical to rip up an expensive driveway. Or if a New street/Subdivision has been built since the rollout was finished/stopped.

Most of Kapiti is underground.

Seems like a strange offer to make to existing customers with a phone line.

Drop the phone line, get an equiv voip service from another company, and save $120 a year.

Or drop the phoneline because you own a cellphone you or work pay for anyway and save more than that.

No, I am not trying to be funny and I resent your ludicrous statement.

Broadmeadows in Wellington has no aerial (telephone wired) services.

TC or Saturn laid the cable right across the entrance to Broadmeadows on  Burma Road, but refused to lay it in Broadmeadows.

My question is simple - When TC state that they can supply naked broadband in Wellington, do they also mean Broadmeadows.

If the answer is no, then their advertising is wrong, incorrect and illegal.
