After receiving my Vodafone bill by email like clockwork since March 2009 (to an @xtra.co.nz email address), they suddenly stopped in July this year.

I only realised because I received a txt message telling me I had not paid my bill.  In all honesty, the email is the reminder I wait for and as soon as I get it, I create a bill payment via internet banking.  So if I don't receive an email......well.....not a high probability I'm just going to remember.

As for the txt telling you your bill is ready.  They are absolutely ineffective for me - they always arrive mid morning and I'm often in a meeting at work and so not an opportune time to excuse myself, use work time to access my online bill details and then proceed to conduct my personal banking!

Even if I happened to be at my desk gazing into space waiting for something to happen, I prefer not to carry out banking at work.  Just a personal ethical thing.  And besides, the txt doesn't have a due date in it anyway (useless really).

Apparently VF don't send txt messages after a certain time of day - but in the case of a bill txt message, early evening would be the most effective time for me.  It would be good if we could choose a "txting hour" for bills - in which case I wouldn't mind about the awol emails.  I've mentioned this - wonder if anyone really cares though.

So, after checking my junk mail folder just in case, I reported my awol email bill and the CSR checked everything on my account and told me that everything was in order and I should receive my email on 11th August.  By the 12th August, still no email.

The CSR in question has been very polite and tried to be helpful, but honestly seems at a loss to explain this.  She has now opened an "incident" with the billing team.  Not sure how seriously an "incident" is taken or the rate of success, but hopeful that they can uncover the problem.

In the meantime, I'm curious as to whether anyone else has had or is having the same problem.  It's a bit weird to think I am the only person in all of New Zealand who gets an email bill from Vodafone, sent to an xtra email address and who is having problems.

I have other email bills set up and they are getting through with no problem......all very curious......

Would be pleased to hear from you if you have any thoughts or feedback.

Thanks
Debem

My vodafone homephone/broadband invoices arrive just fine for my $5 dialup account every month. Only difference is I am not using xtra.

Really if you are going to continue to use an email provider that is constantly being complained about for discarding or mistagging emails then I dont think you should waste vodafones time in investigating the matter. If they say it was sent, it most likly was.

Thanks richms.  I'm just trying to see if anyone else has the same problem.  I will see what happens in the next billing cycle and if need be, will provide an alternative (non xtra) email address.
What doesn't make sense is that other bills are coming to my xtra address....

Hi - Yeah, similar situation... kind of... I'm on a homephone wireless plan with VF, but it kind of gets treated as a mobile account. I was getting bills emailed to me last year, then they stopped... I spoke to someone at VF & they said that something needed to be activated for me to get my emails (re-activated I guess).... the person I was talking to emailed my bills directly to me, but next month nothing arrived from the accounts people. I got a message on my homephone (like a text message), I followed the instructions to go thru' and pay over the phone, but when I got to account details it said nothing was owing....argh... waste more time talking to someone about my not receiving emailed bills.... now it seems that I'm back on the 'list' for receiving emailed bills.
It's taken me quite a few calls, ages on the phone, attempts at following the instructions given via txt message, and attempts at setting up 'my account' online (it seems that things are different for the home wireless service - it's a kind of an orphan service that gets treated as a mobile account by VF, but doesn't have the same access abilities... but they don't tell you that...).

Cheers,
Mike

Hi Lurch - just so I understand - you weren't receiving your bills on a vodafone email address?  Was this recently?  And what email address did you change to (you don't mention which provider).  Once you'd changed, did you start receiving your bills again?  Thanks.

Thanks clicknz (Mike) - mine is an On Account mobile bill.  Sorry to hear about your issue - glad you got it sorted.

I'm not going to rest until I get to the bottom of this!!  There has to be an explanation.  One of the reasons I enjoy xtra is that they have great spam/junk mail filtering.  I hardly ever get any these days.  Come to think of it, I don't know when last I did get any spam.  If it means the odd email that might be legit doesn't get delivered, I will live with that.  But if xtra is filtering out my vodafone bill, then there has to be a reason for that - the address/domain or whatever else it needs to verify, might be causing the problem.  Perhaps.  That's why I'm interested in hearing from people getting VF bills sent to xtra accounts.

I have an on account mobile contract with Vodafone and the invoices are sent to an xtra email address - have not had a delivery problem so far (and have been getting them that way for a long time, long enough for me to have forgotten how long Smile).

I regularly check  the xtra spam filter folder and sometimes find a non spam email has got in there, often from a "good" address and content that had been fine before, but I can't recall a Vodafone one ever ending up in there though - but could be a possibility.

On Gmail and just a mobile account. In June I received an email bill on the 23rd instead of the 4th when I usually receive them. This was after the the bill was due to be paid. Luckily I have Credit Card payment. Had also noticed I hadn't got bill and checked online anyway.

For July and August it has been normal again.

Actually I think that month after talking to my brother he had the same problem.

Great celebrations!  I received my Vodafone bill by email this month.  I didn't change anything, so the months that I didn't receive will have to go into one of life's unsolved mysteries.  They are with the world's lost socks I think :)
