Hi there

I have an old 021 Pre-paid phone which i did not use for quite a while and forgot to top it up last year so the number became innactive or whatever you call it.

I was just wondering if it is possible to go to Vodafone and get a new SIM with the SAME 021 prepaid number? Or will this only work if i want to get a contract with the same number?

Any info would be much appreciated, i wouldnt mind my old number but if theres no way i can get it than ill just get a new one.

Cheers
Jono.

I think only Vodafone can tell you if a number can be reused/assigned. But if the number has been made inactive they problably have a "cool down" period before reusing it again. Not that this period would be used to give your number back, but to prevent people receiving phone calls that would be directed to you.

Nope once a prepaid number has expired cause the end user did not top up with $20 once every 12 months its gone.

Its a fully automated process

It might be uselful just to ntoe that on account customers can get their number back if they close their accounts.

For on account, if you close your account, your mobile number is put on hold for 3 months and then put back into the system to be reused. You can get your number back within the 3 months with no problems, after 3 months you still may be able to get your number back if its available.

But yea, for prepay, once the number has expired, there is no way of getting it back - quite stupid really!

I have gotten a pre-pay number back after about 3 years of expiry before, so dont let them tell you that it cannot be done. You wont get the included credit of a pre-pay pack and they make you buy a sim-card despite having several ones in the required range already, but yeah, it can be done. I had a nice 7 digit that I left dorment when I was on account.
