I just received an email from TC saying that my data cap was increasing from 25GB to 40GB from the end of September at no extra charge!

Well done TC!

They also said:

Additional usage packs
You told us you were tired of being topped up by full size usage packs, often right before the end of the month. So we've taken this on board when designing our new additional usage pack options. Instead of giving you another full-size pack when you go over your usage, we'll simply top you up 1G at a time, at $2 per pack.

Again, well done TC!

I just got that too. Now I need to calculate my usage and figure out which package is best :)

So does that mean I can get 100GB for the same price now?

We're on the base 25GB for $60/mo and then usually get another 25GB pack bringing the total to 60GB for $90. So if I were to get the 100GB plan does that mean I just pay an extra $35 over my $60 for 40GB plan? ($65-$30).

That would be amazing.

I'm not sure where you got that $60 for 25 GB price from; the cheapest "old" plan seems to be $79 for 1 GB ($75 base, plus $4 for the 1 GB pack). The 100 GB plan is $140 all up ($145 if you're outside the big cities).

I pay $60 for 25GB a month including a landline, with the option of buying other 25GB data packs for $30. A sales rep came around to my house a month or two ago with the special deal and I switched from Orcon because it was cheaper for the same amount of data ($90 for 50GB vs $115 for 55gb iirc). I posted on here with my initial disappointment about the slower speeds (compared to Orcon.) The TCL guys sorted it out and now my speeds are better than Orcon, so I'm a happy customer.

So if I don't do anything I guess my home plan will be 40GB for $60, with $2/gig after that. So 50 gigs should be $80/mo.

Great so Cable is left out in the cold!

We pay a lot more for the same Datacap in the end along with more expensive overage. I do care about speed, but overall it's the datacap that is the problem.

We get a reminder that we're on NEW ZEALAND'S BEST NETWORK! WARPSPEED! Who needs UFB? Oh wait, never mind. Cable data has paradoxically always been more expensive than ADSL data. If there's going to be any change, it won't be as "good" as this.
