Just sitting at my desk here, my phone went off and a txt was received, had a look and is was call 707 to hear one new voice message.  Message was left 5min ago, then a second txt immediately comes in after from a friend of mine, something completely unrelated which has been sent about 10min previous.  The phone has full reception.  Now question is why does this happen?  The other night the same thing happened, only they were all txts that came flooding in from someone who had txt me 5 times over a period of about 15mins, and kept txting because I wasn't replying, I wasn't replying because I hadn't received them.  Not to mention other times when im else where away from home, similar things happen, I can be at a customers house and receive a txt saying I missed a call from +649XXXXXXX call blah blah to hear more info on this free service, again full or close to full reception and this happens.  This has always happened now and then, and is usually a rare occurrence for me, but lately its been happening quite a bit, the question is why?  Its vital I am able to answer my calls as thats how I receive work, if I don't answer I simply miss out on work and or people leave messages I have to clear.

I used to carry a second telecom phone around at one stage, and had my Vodafone 021 diverted to the 027 number if phone was off or out of coverage, it works fine but chewed into my anytime national minutes a little.  Looks like I will have to pull out the telecom phone again and carry it around, as I cannot afford to miss calls.  When I was solely with telecom years and years ago this never used to happen, so why with Vodafone?  Please don't tell me its my phone, I have been through countless numbers of phones and get the same problem.

I'm having the same problem at the moment with 2 Degrees.

It could be my phone but it's strange that the calls fail 75% of the time when I'm at work and only about 5% of the time in other places.

Cant help except to say I had the same issues.
They kept blaming the phone ( original iphone from US) then I had two other phones in quick succession ,
all with the identical issue as you.
When I got my latest iphone I went back to Telecom .
Problem solved!

Happens to me too. Not so much since I ditched the iphone but I'm not prepared to blame the handset as I've had it intermittently for years.

Snap! Was laughing at a workmate today hassling him for being old and deaf because he missed 2 calls this morning in the same fashion. The first he knew was when he got the txt to say voice mail waiting. I had to eat humble pie when it happened to me this afternoon! When I rang back the caller he said the phone went to voice mail as if the phone was switched off (it never is!) I have a Nokia old style and workmate has a brand new HTC smartphone...so it's clearly something up with the VF network not the phone.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Lately I've been sending txts to an XT number and they don't go through (finding out how my kids are, so quite important) and when people call me they get out of area messages, but I'll get their txt and ring them back, without moving (truck parked, phone in cradle on dash). I'm a bit dissapointed really as I just signed up for a 24mth term.
I could blame the phone being an XT Sensation BUT I can put my TelstraClear sim in the same phone and have no issues.
And the text issues aren't even when I'm in a fringe area.

I've been having the same problem too with missed calls (on my end and the other party's end) and delayed texts (which suddenly come 10 minutes later) but I've attributed it to congestion since it's only happened in CBD and there's been an increase of people with the RWC.

I've had to use my brother's Telecom phone a few times.

Hey dude, assuming your in Auckland??
We have the same issue at our workplace (high rise building in CBD). Infact the coverage is quite poor in 'different' corners of the building.  It was fine about 6 months ago !  So with the poor/intermittant coverage...we often get 'missed call' texts / 'texts for voicemail' etc etc.

Funny thing is we are in the Gen-I building (however our mobiles are on vodafone).
I have a suspicion that vodafone may have slightly moved the direction of one of their cellular sites to perhaps give the viaduct area better / stronger coverage?

The original symptoms described say full-coverage. If you're having coverage problems that's different, innit? Unless his phone is lying?

I am CBD Auckland based during the day as well, and have had issues despite more than sufficient coverage. And FWIW, not just in the CBD.

Yep im in West Auckland, Henderson area, sadly as of tomorrow im going to have to start carrying around my old telecom cdma phone again, as this never has this issue.  Ive missed a total of 3 calls today because the phone didnt ring, this is just not on and im a bit disgusted.  Will active the divert option to my 027 to divert all calls if phone is off or outside of coverage area.  This will eat into my anytime nat mins a bit, but its the only way to not risk losing work.  It would be much appreciated if Vodafone could re-imburse me the nat mins used diverting to my 027, maybe johnr could sort something out for me if possible?

This happens quite a lot to me too.
I'm in Whangarei.
In my office at work the phone has full coverage yet it often doesn't ring and I get the texts saying such and such called and often a voicemail text as well.
