Trolling I know... but I find this hard to take as a good deal. Sure I get an extra 2500 texts, free voicemail and 250MB but come on!

Gotta agree, VF did have the best smartphone plans but this is amusing. Are you on the existing $40 plan with 3GB by any chance?

Yep, their old Smart plans were so much better and even enticed me as a prepay customer. Now this "new and exciting" plans they have come up with are just plain 2010.

I do agree, but their business smart plans are pretty good. same price, but you also get

free calling to your group,
free calling to one NZ number (called FCN and they're irrespective of provider),
other FCN's for only $8.89+GST each,

and they generally can throw in a free best mate per plan for the life of your plan if you ask nicely ;)

Yes the data is tiny, but that is the only gripe is it not?

That then begs the question? If VF can do free calling between $40-45 plans and still provide the same allotments as a consumer plan (ie amount of mins etc), Whats stopping us or someone else creating a 'Not for profit MVNO'

Then the more customers the MVNO is gets, the more free calling everyone gets?

Since everybody is just trolling I'll add my 5c worth. You can't beat the new Telecom deals, they're far better than any other network is offering!

I know of a couple of groups who have done similar to this with the talkzone plans vodafone have, they each get seperate billing but belong to one group so get free calling to each other and cheap rates as there is 50 or so on the deal.

I see the free SGS2 listed under the home section with only 300 free minutes but under business you get 600 free minutes but only $450 odd off your choice of phone? I am guessing you have ask the sales people nicely if they can do you a deal for the free SGS2 on the business plan?

edit - found the free SGS2 business plan offer! Good deal indeed.

I have only been on VF for 3 or 4 months and recently received a call from VF offering me a no penalty option to switch across to one of the new smart plans, well that was until she checked my usage and suggested no i should stay on the old smart plan given my 1~1.5gb/mth data usage

I was impressed on two aspects, firstly the no penalty to change option given my 24mth contract was only started in june and secondly after reviewing my usage they gave an honest recommendation to stay on the old smart 2 plan given i use a lot of data and that was the best option for me (which obviously i knew but was nice to hear!)

if you compare the smart 45 plan plus the $20 1gb data pack you effectively have what should have been the revised smart 2 plan imho anyway. VF has effectively provided a modular plan structure that caters to both light and heavy data users which is not dumb when you think about it

I can't see that there's any deal this good for existing customers though. Am I looking in the wrong place?
