With TCL's annoucement of unplugged ( the wireless internet and mobile 3g network ) in Tauranga I was wondering what people opinion on this is?  Good/Bad, want it, hate it?

I think it's great that providers are willing to invest in new infrastructure despite the implementation of unbundling in the near future. I have had bad experiences with TelstraClear as a customer and would never deal with them again if I could avoid it, but the competition is still very welcome.

Avenger: Bad experiances?  let me guess overusage on the cable plans ?

No, it's been a series of minor things, really. When I was a residential customer in 2004, I had problems with cable modem rental being billed for incorrectly, and when I finally terminated the service, they tried to charge me for the non-return of the TV decoder and cable modem even though they had been immediately returned in good order.

As a business customer, we have had problems with them overcharging for various things and when the billing gets stuffed up, we seem to end up having to liase with various different staff members, each of whom seems to have no idea what the other is doing about the problem. They also recently disconnected one of our phones lines by 'accident' which effectively killed our fax machine and resulted in some loss of business.

Feedback that I've heard from other TelstraClear customers would suggest that I'm not the only person who's had ongoing problems with them. To be honest, they give the impression that they have disorganised systems and very poor communication.

Still, I have to give credit where it's due, and I commend them for investing in infrastructure rather than sitting back and whinging like Annette Presley.
