Just wondering if anyone else has recently purchased a Nokia 6234?

I purchased one approximately two weeks ago - very nice phone!
I saw a poster in a vodaphone store yesterday advertising that if you one of the first 1000 customers who own a 6234 to txt in their IMEI number to 8824, you would recieve a pair of Sennheiser mobile headphones & mobile adaptor.

Needless to say, I txt'd in my IMEI, and a return txt later with my name and address, apparently the headphones will be on their way to me soon! :)

Just thought I'd point this out to any other new 6234 owners!

Any links to the promotion page on the Vodafone website? I couldn't find any.

The reason I am asking is because pages and pages were posted discussing about the "Free Friday" trouble with Vodafone's billing system, apparently simply because someone forwarded SMS saying "SMS is free today" when in fact it wasn't.

A lot of people defending Vodafone on that discussion pointed out that if you can't find information about the promotion on Vodafone's website then it's likely it's not true.

But then you tell us that there are promotion that are not disclosed?

Confusion settles in...

Well, If I'm in Central Lower Hutt again today, I'll take a photo.

The poster is on the window of the Vodafone store on the corner of Bunny St and Queens Dr.

If anyone here has a pxt phone, pm your number and I'll send you the pxt, otherwise it will be a digital camera pic uploaded to imgshack.

There you go. I don't read newspapers. Most companies are still not targeting the on-line consumer. But I have to say, I saw some Google AdSense ads for the Vodafone vodem site in the last few days.

Perhaps a drop by at Nokia.co.nz website will find yourself with this promo :-)

here's the PDF link to it directly. Nokia 6234 Promo. Currently it seems like Nokia has delivered 966 headphones out already.

There you go. On the other thread people were saying that a promotional SMS should not be believed if the promotion is not on the Vodafone website.

You can see now how this can cause problems? People can't believe if it's not there, but still it is a valid promotion. Vodafone supporters should not advocate that people who used the Free Friday SMS hoax should be charged. How can one really be sure of promotions? Information in this age is very disperse.

I agree with Mauricio Vodafone really leave themselves wide open and need to smarten up around there advertising.  There website as per your blog really needs updating and looks if various departments are not working together.

It was Vodafones fault in a way last week as did they have something up on there web site about this? NO! we shouldnt have to call and ask Vodafone for stuff like there secret get a free vodem if you are the first 10.

Vodafone should have that promo splashed over there web pages as whats the point of being online and not promoting yourself.

Adding to that Vodafone NZ is prob the worst Vodafone Opco out there that does not even have a online shop.  Go to Vodafone Australia and look at what GSM phones they sell that are Vodafone approved.

Perhaps it has something to do with Competation as in OZ there is not just one GSM network they have competation and have to be smarter amd more customer focused.

Vodafone NZ web site 2 out of 10 not helpfull!

How do we know this was not in a digital mobile or first mobile window

It actually sounded more like a Nokia promotion than a Vodafone promotion....

Even if it was a Nokia promo why does Vodafone not push on their site as would drive new customers or more sales through the store even though they dont own the store it still means more or happy customers on their network.

Does not make sense to push though a online presence.

Lipex666: ...stuff like there secret get a free vodem if you are the first 10.

I think the vodem promotion was a good one. It was supposed to be viral - low cost, highyl attractive, fast spreading. It worked in that sense. Why is that all promotions must be on a paper? Perhaps Vodafone was trying to identify different medias? If so, they did well, because after I received an email announcing the promotion, I immediatelly jumped on the #geekzone on-line chat and passed the information ahead, and from there to other people.

I think the vodem promotion is not to be examined under the same view as this one, because they are different things, with different markets. For example, a free pair of headsets for people that buy a multimedia phone is something that would appeal more a large market (and therefore require some form of advertising) than a data modem that works only with laptops and a data account, which are obviously are much more restrict and targeted market.

And as for this promotion, it looks clear now that it's a Nokia thing, not Vodafone.

johnr was is it nuts that Vodafone would not want to help incease customers, increase sales of mobile phones.

At the end of the day we are stuck with Vodafone as the only GSM network here so I could not see why they shouldnt promote this as well.  Different if this prom was done in OZ with a so many GSM networks.

Think about if if you owned a buiness would you not help promote something that would increase your revenue and new customers would you not advertise this or would yuo loose that opatunity?

Simple mention of a this say Nokia prome or check out what Nokia has would only make Vodafone better.

Would alos incourage other playes like Motorola to do specials.

Yep, the herald advert is what's in the window of the Vodafone store in Central Lower Hutt - so one would assume vodafone would know something about it, considering it says to ask 'in store'...
