for a while I have had very slow internet and have trouble connecting to alot of sites. johnr said about line figures. Wasnt possible to get any diagnistics from my old Belkin modem.  I now have a brand new Vodafone Wireless Broadband modem and now it is even slower. the diagnostics for adsl are as follows.

                      upstream  downstream

CurrRate(kbps)    1171         15359

MaxRate(kbps)    1208         15620

NoiseMargin(db) 12.7          12.1

Attenuation(db)   11.0           4.0

Power(dBm)        12.8           0.0

Sorry these dont mean much to me so dont know if okay or not.  I have vodafone naked broadband, single line, no filters and nothing else connected.

sorry about 2 posts, not sure why it did that and cant delete one.  Well the Vodafone modem was painfully slow so have disconnected it and gone back to belkin. But I cant do diagnostics like I could on the vodafone.  The vodafone modem I could quite literally make a cup of coffee while waitiing for page to load.  Belkin is much faster, just a lot of sites have trouble connecting to including geekzone a lot of times.
Maybe just vodafone generally slow here though I dont know why the brandnew vodafone wireless broadband modem was painfully slow.  Thought it would have been more suited for vodafone internet but alas no

think I just have to put up with it.

speedtest download 11.8
upload 0.8

Isolation test I didnt do as I said it is the only line in, naked broadband so only modem connected.  Mainly have trouble connecting to Aussie sites and Fishpond and geekzone others seem fine.  With the brandnew Vodafone Broadband Complete Modem the internet was so slow as to be unusable so have gone back to belkin modem.

Please call the fixed line team and log a ticket and mention the sync rate of the modem to the exchange / cabinet and that you have tried another modem and done an isolation test and can it be looked into further

Hi, I thought I would try something first.  I reset the new Vodafone modem and set it up by their instructions and now everything is working fine. I can now connect to Fishpond and the Aussie sites I couldnt get before. This reply connected straight off first time which hasnt happened before. Will test for another couple of days just in case its a one off time.  At moment I am happy. Thank you

Sorry you misunderstood.  This is brand new modem and I set it up exactly as instructed by the booklet that came with it.  In the end I downloaded settings for modems for people switching to Vodafone from other providers as by the instructions on Vodafone website.  In other words a complete manual setup as opposed to the semi automatic as done via the instruction booklet that came with the modem.  Hope that makes sense.  I admit I dont communicate what I mean e=very well. Never have been a good communicator I am afraid.  But yes hope it stays good and not just a one off.
