Hi all

Wasn't quite sure if I.m posting in the right section here but wanting a bit of info if possible please. An Auntie of mine in NZ has recently got herself a Win 7 Laptop and still has dailup with Clearnet as she isn't a big user of the net and wishes to retain her connection at this stage.

So my question is as I'm in Australia is it possible to bring a modem over from Aus and use it in NZ please. Wasn't quite sure if it would work with the NZ phone system.

Was looking at the this one which has win 7 64 bit drivers available.

Hi, yes dailup modem technology is pretty universal so I cannot imagine any issues, and this comes from someone who use to design such items.

Might I suggest you move you aunt onto prepay 3G BB this especially makes good sense if she is in one of the major centres and covered by 2degrees, otherwise vodafone or XT cover pretty much anywhere but not so good priceing.

Also, IIRC some ISPs were working towards taking down their dial-up pools. Not sure about TelstraClear, but they were changing some of the Clearnet stuff.

Thanks so much for the prompt reply, very much appreicated. Wil look into the 2degree option for her as well. Heading over to the mother land for Xmas and setting up a new laptop for her.

Thanks again

hmm Not so much taking down but winding down ? Still some cash in it i guess but Broadband is where its at these days?

I am guessing its the same with Analogue TV , Takes more to keep/upgrade than to invest in digital
