Hi I confess to being a little confuse by the threads up the top.  Can someone advise what settings I would need to change so that a Telecom Galaxy S could be used on the Vodafone network.

thanks

Be aware you won't get 3G outside urban centres where vodafone has 2100mhz towers..
(Their 3G extended network won't work on your phone)

Vodafone has quite a number of 3G 2100Mhz sites outside of urban areas

johnr: APN settings for PXT and internet

so 'internet.telecom.co.nz' becomes www.vodafone.net.nz ?

I see there is a message centre number in the phone but assume that needs to change and not sure where to APN for the PXT is?

thanks JohnR that has been a big help.

The user is on prepay and does not want to pay for data at this stage (just Wifi) but it seems you have to have data on to receive Pxt messages.  Is there a way she will accidently use data if the wifi drops out even tho she has no data on her plan and consume her meager funds?

Yes it is possible as its a Smart phone always online and it depends what is running in the back ground

Thanks mate, would I be right then in saying that if she turns packet data of it will prevent this possibility and the only downside will be not being able to receive MMS (which she could do if she wanted to by turning it back on)?
