Im having a problem with my HG556a vodafone modem. Most of the time it goes fine but every few days [usually once a week] it just disconnects from internet [shows the "There's a problem with your Vodafone broadband connection." router page] and i end up having to restart modem to get it to work again. It seems to be getting worse as it happened today and yesterday. The worse part of it is when it happens when im in the middle of a online game.

So is anyone else had a problem like this or knows how to fix it??

Do you have Sky, fax or a monitored alarm on this line?

You might not have a monitored alarm contract, but are you sure there isn't an old alarm connected somewhere, left behind by previous owner or landlord, even without a contract?

Hi, John was not referring to something seen after a night on the hard stuff, but was asking if your area has recently been cabinetised. If it has and you are on a cabinet and on the Red network then that could be causing random disconnections and overall poor speeds. To see if you are on a cabinet or not put your address into the following link.

http://www.chorus.co.nz/service-availability-tool

Tell us about your house phone wiring, how many sockets, what filters are on various phone devices, this includes anything connected to the phoneline, fax's skybox etc etc and do you have an alarm system, used or not.
