Does anyone have a NZ version of the HG556a firmware to download? The only version available out there seems to be an Irish version which has stuffed things up. The Vodafone page that supposedly has the firmware files on it is 404'ing at the moment. (testvf.co.nz/hg556a/)

I've plugged the username/password into the advanced settings in the Irish version and set the VPI/VCI etc. but it doesn't want to connect for some reason, so a NZ version 28 or newer to flash over the top would be helpful.

Was hoping it'd make the DLNA server on it work properly, but it's rendered the unit nigh useless :(

The DLNA works with the firmware shipped, or at least mine did. I am getting a new one posted in the next few days due to my hardware failing though, so would like to know if anyone does have decent firmware for NZ. I was very tempted to try the Irish version (which was all I could find at the time) also to get DDNS working which just plain does not work.

In case anyone else is tempted to try the Irish firmware - don't, it's hosed the PPPD service on this unit, the only way I could get it to connect was to set it to bridged mode and log in using PPPoE on a DSL-friendly DLink router I had laying around. Tried factory default reset, reflashing again, same deal, diagnostic logging shows pppd segfaulting as soon as it's launched. Spent half an hour on hold without getting through to a human being (admittedly at 8pm on a Friday) and another 2-3 hours trying different combinations of things to no avail before thinking to crank up the loggin detail and look at those.

Bleh, the Dlink was just taking up space so no big loss other than losing the relatively useless DLNA service (neither an Xbox360 nor PS3 would talk to it reliably).

The firmware was supposedly on Vodafone's site about 2 weeks ago, nothing there now though.

So heed my warning, leave it alone!
